DILI, 31 august 2023 (TATOLI)- Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Koica Alumni Association of Timor-Leste (KAATL) together with the Vise Prime Minister of Rural Development (VPMCMDR) officially implanting the 5Rs program (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle and Rot )for the waste management system.
President of KAATL, Frederick Nelson Mandela Lopes said this activity aimed to provide waste management to help students reduce, recycle, and reuse waste materials in Dili municipality to reduce environmental impact.
“We are concerned about a lot of the big number of waste in Dili town. We observe that waste can impact the environment, so today we are here to share knowledge of waste management’’ President of KAATL, Frederick Nelson Mandela Lopes told Journalists in 30 August school, Comoro this Thursday.
KAATL helps students to put the rubbish in the proper places. KAATL provided four waste bins to manage different waste composed of Organic waste, Plastic or inorganic rubbish such as plastic and bottles, and others.
In the same place, Vice Prime VPCMDR, Mariano Assanami Sabino said it is important for students to know how to transform organic rubbish become fertilizer and inorganic waste can be transformed become incredible arts.
“We must have students transform waste to fertilizer that will benefit the school garden and also some inorganic rubbish for some incredible and beautiful arts,” he said
By implementing this program, Asanami Thank the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) through KOICA Alumni Association Timor-Leste for the implementation of this program.
Meanwhile, the program is funded by KOICA with a total amount of 2.300 USD for the procurement of items composed of 7 Water filters, 200 water bottles, and 4 rubbish waste.
This program benefits over 2,000 students and 61 teachers in the 30 August school, Comoro
