DILI 15 september 2023 (TATOLI)- Timor Leste celebrated World Ozone Day theme “Montreal layer and reducing climate change’’ to mitigate the risk of clime change and high temperatures.
In the celebration day, Deputy Prime Minister coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs and Minister of Tourism and the Environmental, Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, said climate change is the global main issue. All countries around the world take important action on this issue including Timor-Leste.
With the theme for this year focus on reducing climate change, Calbuady said:”We are proud to have assistance from development partners for providing capacity building to make an action for mitigating climate change in Timor-Leste,’’ Francisco Kalbuadi Lay said in his remarks in the Minister of Finance office, Ai-Tarak laran, this Friday.
To ensure the Timor-Leste zone will be not affected by climate change. Timor-Leste is required to promote a blue economy in the ocean.
“We are lucky to have a wonderful ocean which is free of not must affect the Ozone triangle O3 and have a high temperature for global warming,’’ He explained
In the same place, the National Director of Climate Change, Agusto Pinto, said After Timor-Leste celebrates the Ozone convention, Timor-Leste celebrates World Ozone Day every year.
“This Ozone Day Celebration is an opportunity to share knowledge with all communities to increase awareness to protect our earth from the high temperatures which are impacted by climate change or global warming. We all should work together to improve and protect the molecule Ozone to prevent Earth affected by climate change,’’ He said.
He explained that Ozone is an Inorganic Molecule with the chemical formula O3. It is a pale blue gas with a distinctively pungent small. It is an allotrope of oxygen that is much less stable than the diatomic allotrope O₂, Breaking down in the lower atmosphere to O₂.
“We should use Refrigeration and Air Conditioning to limit the effect for Ozeno. Thus, we continue to use the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration that are available,’’ he explained
So far, the Climate Change department has provided Training to trainers in Becora Professional Training Center, Comoro, Professional Training Center, Civil Societies local NGO, and others.
While technical assistance is also provided by New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, and other development partners to help Timor-Leste protect Ozone.
