DILI, 20 september 2023 (TATOLI)–The National Parliament (NP), on Tuesday, in a plenary session approved the “Condelences” and solidarity with victims of natural disasters in Morocco and Libya, with a vote of 55 in favor, against 0 and abstentions 0.
“The vote of condolences was approved with 55 votes in favor, zero against, and zero abstentions. Therefore, this vote of condolences is approved at the National Parliament,” the president of the National Parliament, Maria Fernanda Lay, made the announcement, today.
Voice of condolences on draft regulation no. 21/VI/1a, approved by providing solidarity with the victims affected by the earthquake in Morocco, which occurred on 8 September. Where the earthquake caused 2,900 people to die, more than 5,000 were injured, and more than 3,000 had to be displaced due to damage to buildings and infrastructure that occurred during the earthquake.
In addition, voices of condolence overdraft regulation no. 22/VI/1a, was also approved by providing solidarity with the victims of the flash floods in Libya, which occurred on 10 and 11 September. Where, the flood caused major damage to buildings, infrastructure, and sea transportation.
Where flash floods in Libya caused around 3,000 people to die and many were injured and had to flee.
Voices of condolence for the victims in Morocco and Libya were submitted by members of the CNRT Fraction Parliament (Congresso Nacional de Reconstrução de Timor-Leste), Duarte Nunes, and members of the PD Fraction Parliament (Democratic Party).
