DILI, 22 september 2023 (TATOLI) – Manny Pacquiao, the Filipino legendary retired boxer who competed from 1995 to 2021 will visit Timor-Leste, next week (thursday, September 28).
The Ministry of Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MoYSAC), through Timor-Leste’s National Sports Commission (NSC), has been preparing to welcome one of the greatest professional boxers of all time, Manny Pacquiao, when he lands in the country.
“Manny Pacquiao, the best Asian fighter of all time, will arrive in Timor-Leste on 28th september,” MoYSAC said in a statement, today.
During his stay in Dili, Pacquiao will meet with different national leaders, including the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, and Speaker of the National Parliament, Maria Fernanda Lay.
The legendary Filipino boxer will also visit several boxing clubs in Dili, including the Benfica Boxing Club, the Matador Boxing Club, the Dili Boxing Club, and the Oriental Boxing Club.
Pacqiao’s visit will certainly encourage young Timorese who dream of pursuing their dream of becoming successful professional boxers in the future.
Timor-Leste Boxing Federation, in collaboration with the National Sports Confederation (NSC), will be responsible for organizing all the activities related to Pacquiao’s three-day visit to the country.
The legendary boxer will return to his home country, the Philippines on 30 September.
Manny Pacquiao became world-famous for winning boxing titles in more weight classes than any other boxer in history.
Pacquiao is the only boxer in history to win twelve major world titles in eight different weight divisions.
He is also the first boxer in history to win the lineal championship in five different weight divisions, as well as the first boxer in history to win major world titles in four of the original eight weight divisions of boxing, also known as the “glamour divisions”: flyweight, featherweight, lightweight and welterweight.
