DILI, 07 november 2023 (TATOLI) – President and Commissioner of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), Faustino Cardoso Gomes said that the CSC will prioritize its next year’s budget for the digitization of public administration and services.
Gomes made the comments following the approval of the CSC’s budget for 2024, totaling US$3 million, by the Budget Review Committee at the Ministry of Finance.
Digitalization in public administration and services includes the interconnection of database systems between the KFP, the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank of Timor-Leste (BCTL), and other ministries and banks in the country.
He said that with digitalization, the future civil service exam could be taken online.
“This initiative aims to avoid paying salaries to deceased employees and also to avoid paying double salaries. That’s why we need a sophisticated system to improve our services,” said Gomes.
Gomes said that consolidating and adjusting the structure of government institutions is also part of the CSC’s priorities for next year.
“A single employment contract will be implemented at all ministries next year, which means that no ministry will be allowed to apply its own labor contract system,” he explained.
“The Budget Review Committee of the Ministry of Finance approved US$3 million for our budget next year,” said Gomes.
