DILI, 24 november 2023 (TATOLI) – Embassy Dili’s Chargé d’Affaires Marc Weinstock joined Timor-Leste’s Vice Minister of Health Jose dos Reis Magno launched the Ministry of Health’s Leadership and Management Development Program.
The USG is contributing US$215,250 to the program which will bolster performance and build capacity at the Ministry to lead Timor-Leste to a healthier future! It’s an initiative that underscores USG commitment to advancing quality healthcare in the country.
“The US$215,250 will support the establishment of a leadership and management development program designed to improve governance, organizational culture, organizational performance, and data-driven decision making within the MoH, specifically within the Directorate General of Corporate Services, the National Directorate of Human Resources, and the Directorate of the Cabinet for Policy, Planning Cooperation and Development,” said in a statement.
Weinstock said: “We are supporting the institutional capacity strengthening through the Leadership and Management Development Program.” “Through the U.S Embassy in Timor-Leste, we extent our heartfelt appreciation to MoH for their extremely leadership and unwavering support in spearheading the efforts to enhance of MoH.”
As implementing partner for the grant, St John of God International Health will support the MoH in developing a series of program modules and conduct workshops utilizing case studies and best practices to enhance the capacities of the MoH leaders, managers, and supervisors to establish and sustain a culture of high performance within the ministry.
“Through our continued bilateral cooperation, foreign assistance, and public diplomacy, the U.S. focuses on deepening our enduring partnership, enhancing good governance, and expanding economic prosperity, opportunity, and engagement,” Weinstock added.
Minister Magno thanked USG for supporting the launch of this program: “On behalf of the Ministry of Health, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for this very important support to improve the quality of healthcare services in the country.”
