DILI, 25 november 2023 (TATOLI) – The Indonesian Embassy in Dili, launched Indonesian Entrepreneurs Association in Timor-Leste (IEA-TL) in a seminar organized at the Indonesian Cultural Center, in Dili.
“This seminar aims to discuss the contribution of Indonesian entrepreneurs to Timor Lester’s economic development as well as launching the IEA-TL,” said Indonesian Ambassador to Timor Leste, Okto Dorinus.
He said: “The launch of this association is to facilitate Indonesian entrepreneurs in Timor-Leste in terms of policies, as well as investment rules and regulations.”
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the IEA-TL, Marli Yahya, said that the establishment of this association was to strengthen economic cooperation, especially trade between Timor-Leste and Indonesia.
Ten Indonesian businesspeople joined the association at the launch ceremony, and many more are expected to join the organization in the future.
During the seminar, Vice Minister of Commerce, Augusto Júnior Trindade presented the government’s preferences for areas in which Indonesian entrepreneurs can invest.
Trindade expressed his sincere appreciation for the Indonesian Embassy’s initiative in establishing the association, which is crucial for boosting commercial cooperation between the two countries.
Indonesia’s exports to Timor-Leste was US$248.56 million during 2021, according to the United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade.
