DILI, 22 december 2023 (TATOLI) – The Association of Young Chinese Entrepreneurs (AYCE) in Timor-Leste delivered several food items to the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) to be distributed to vulnerable communities during Christmas and New Year.

The foodstuffs included 500 sacks of rice, 100 racks of eggs, 20 kg of sugar, four boxes of Dancow powdered milk, 65 boxes of cooking oil, and three boxes of detergents.

AYCE Secretary Rudy Kawn said that the food distribution is a charitable activity to support vulnerable communities during Christmas and New Year.

“We know that the Office of the President and MTI organized the ‘Bazaar Baratu’ to sell products at low cost to support vulnerable communities. So we also want to support these people with the distribution of these food items” said Kawn at the MTI office, in Dili.

He mentioned that AYCE had also organized the same food charity during the flash floods in April 2021, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the same place, Minister of Trade and Industry, Filipus Nino Pereira said that: “These food items will be soon distributed to the vulnerable communities in Dili. But first, our team will have to identify the vulnerable families who deserve to receive the food.”

AYCE was established in 2017 and currently has more than 188 members. These entrepreneurs have employed more than 6,000 Timorese.
