DILI, 16 february 2024 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta, received an invitation from the Japanese Ambassador, Tetsuya KIMURA to visit the ISMAIK project implemented by the NGO PARCIC, financed by the Government of Japan, to help improve household nutrition by increasing the performance of mothers and their ability to obtain nutritious food in Aileu, Ainaro, and Ermera.
“I came to visit two projects that are about nutrition for children as well as providing education and training on nutrition using local and National food products, the two projects increase skills so that when they take these skills to the Presidential Palace I can promote and encourage these skills in other areas,” said President Horta.
Horta said he would discuss with the government to implement its priority program to address problems affecting mothers and children, especially malnutrition.
“I can talk to the government to pay attention to malnutrition or include it in the government’s priority programs for child nutrition, nutrition for mothers, education, health for children, and also build schools for children,” said the Head of State.
Japanese Ambassador Tetsuya KIMURA affirmed he was very happy to meet the Aileu community, especially children
“We will reduce malnutrition in Timor-Leste through the help of the Japanese Government which has carried out cooperation with international NGOs and local NGOs,” said Tetsuya Kimura. “The Japanese Government began implementing programs for malnutrition in children and increasing yields for mothers in each household to sustain family nutrition.”
