INFORDEPE to offer digital literacy training for 600 teachers

DILI, 26 february 2024 (TATOLI) – The National Institute for Training of Teachers and Education Professionals (INFORDEPE) will offer digital literacy training for 600 teachers.

The 600 teachers from 30 schools in the municipalities of Ainaro, Ermera, and Liquiça will take part in the training next month.

The head of INFORDEPE, Domingos Martins, said that the 10 trainers who are currently in training will be deployed to the municipalities to carry out the training.

“We have received financial support from UNICEF for the implementation of the training program. So the US$1.1 million provided by UNICEF will support the teacher training program for teachers from pre-school to secondary school,” said Martins.

He said that the schedule for the one-week training program would be announced soon, probably after the first trimester exams.

In order to improve the quality of education in Timor-Leste, the government, through the Ministry of Education is committed to carrying out various training programs for teachers.

The Minister of Education, Dulce de Jesus Soares, has said that more training programs for Portuguese language teachers will be carried out this year, with the aim of improving Portuguese language teaching skills.

In addition, the National Director of the Vocational-Technical School, Fernando Mouzinho Gama said the Ministry of Education has collaborated with the National Institute for Labor Force Development (INDIMO) to also provide training for the teachers of Vocational-Technical Schools.

He said that more than 50 of the 4,000 teachers of the Vocational-Technical Schools in the country will be selected to take part in the training.
