DILI, 08 march 2024 (TATOLI) – Mercy Corps through the European Union in Timor-Leste funded the Maloa Urban Resilience Initiative program and has once again signed the business recovery grant agreement with 11 additional small businesses in february 2024.

As part of the 2nd round business recovery grant, the 11 small businesses were successfully selected through rigorous selection processes conducted by Mercy Corps’s business grant selection team.

“Most of the selected businesses are based in the Maloa watershed area and the type of business activities at this 2nd round consists of the cafeteria, local produce food stall, coconut fresh drink making, coffee production, yellow rice, local kebab, local fresh eggs making, and rehabilitation of existing business establishment,” said in a statement.  

Before signing the contract, the Maloa program team facilitated business induction training for the selected businesses to help them understand the process and requirements.

Mercy Corps will collaborate with its partners to provide additional business skills development support to the selected businesses to support them to run businesses well. 

The selected businesses expressed heartfelt gratitude to the European Union and Mercy Corps for supporting them in accessing business recovery grants to make their businesses more profitable.
