AEMTL launches website to empower, connect and support female entrepreneurs

DILI, 19 march 2024 (TATOLI) – Today, the EU Ambassador, Marc Fiedrich, the Representatives of the Chambers of Commerce, Timor-Leste (CCI-TL), Dili Municipality Authority, and Union of Portuguese Speaking Capital Cities (UCCLA) launched the website of the Women’s Business Association of Timor-Leste (AEMTL) at Fundação Oriente.

The website aims to promote the association’s activities on a global scale, in its various areas of intervention and to boost business opportunities, encourage networking, and promote the strengths of the AEMTL and its members. This website will also help to advance the economic empowerment of women and foster their active participation in the entrepreneurial landscape of Timor-Leste.

The website was developed as part of the project “Partnership for Strengthening Urban Governance, Social Inclusion and Promoting Entrepreneurship in Dili”, implemented by the Union of Portuguese Speaking Capital Cities (UCCLA), in collaboration with the Dili Municipal Authority (AMD) and Lisbon City Council, and supported by the European Union.

The Ambassador of the European Union Delegation, Marc Fiedrich, said that the impact of digital technologies is prevalent in every spectrum of our lives and consequently the current era is also termed the ‘’digital age’’. Digitalization is the vehicle of a new era of transformation.

“The increasing use of digital media in business communication and the dissemination of services and product data will lead to rapid growth in e-commerce worldwide. And I would like to congratulate the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Timor-Leste (AEMTL) for helping Timor-Leste play an active role in this transformation,” he said. 

“With the launch of this new AEMTL website, which comes with its design and new menu, to bring innovation in digitalization, solutions, and aspirations to better serve Timorese women entrepreneurs. This www.aemtl.tl can make all members of AEMTL from 12 municipalities and women entrepreneurs more feasible to count on their work and contribution to the economy of the family and the development in the country,” said President AEMTL, Hergui Luina Fernandes Alves.

She said that a website that can achieve the strategic objective of AEMTL to promote and connect members’ assets and products to the municipal market at the national and global levels.
