DILI, 15 may 2024 (TATOLI) – The Justice Sector Reform Working Group (JSRWP) has presented a report to the Prime Minister, Xanana Gusmão.
The coordinator of the working group, Lúcia Lobato, said that one of the report’s recommendations is to invest in the training of judges.
Lobato made the comments on the sidelines of the ceremony of the 10th anniversary of the Scientific and Criminal Investigation Police, at the GMN’s hall, in Dili.
She stressed that investing in the training of judges is crucial to develop human resources in the justice sector.
According to Lobato, the report made several recommendations, including increasing human resources and improving judicial infrastructure.
Lobato added that the status of the courts of first instance in Dili, Baucau, Covalima and Oé-Cusse needed to be reviewed, as well as improving the infrastructure of the Legal and Judicial Training Centre.
