DILI, 20 may 2024 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos-Horta and Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah held a bilateral meeting today, after a flag-raising ceremony, focused on further expanding cooperation in strategic sectors that are extremely important for the development of Timor-Leste.
The key areas discussed included strengthening ties in tourism, education, health, transportation, industry, agriculture, fisheries, forestry, food production, and environmental protection.
Following these productive discussions, President Ramos-Horta and the Sultan proceeded with an official gift exchange ceremony.
The leaders then continued to the State Banquet, where Horta welcomed the opportunity to “further elevate and expand ties between the two smallest ASEAN members.”
The banquet marked the 22nd-anniversary celebration of the restoration of Timor-Leste’s independence.
