DILI, 24 may 2024 (TATOLI) – The Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, emphasized the need for Timor-Leste to learn and replicate the Chinese water conservation system.
Gusmão made the statement on the sidelines of a meeting with the Chinese Minister of Water Resources, Li Gouying, as part of The Bandung Spirit Water Summit, in Nusa Dua Bali, Indonesia.
He said that it is essential to ensure the population has access to water resources and basic sanitation.
“We were delighted to hear about China’s experience with water conservation, irrigation, and flood control systems. We want to learn these systems and replicate them in Timor-Leste,” said Gusmão.
Prime Minister asked Li Gouying to support Timor-Leste by sending a technical team to collaborate with the Timorese Ministry of Public Works.
