Chinese navy ship docks in Dili

DILI, 30 may 2024 (TATOLI) – The Chinese navy ship QI JIGUANG docked today in Dili Port at around 9 am for a four-day visit.

The ship was welcomed by the Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Wang Wenli, and the Deputy Chief of General Staff of the F-FDTL, Major General Calisto dos Santos ‘Coliati’, in the presence of more than 300 people.

In an interview, Coliati said that the visit is a military tradition that aims to strengthen the relationship between China and Timor-Leste in the defense sector.

During the four-day visit, the Chinese officers and soldiers will visit the F-FDTL Naval Base in Hera, the National Defense Institute, and the Timorese Resistance Archive and Museum. They will also meet with the Commander of the Navy and leaders of the Ministry of Defense to discuss and exchange ideas on strengthening military cooperation between the two countries.

In addition, the officers and soldiers will take part in some sporting activities with the Timorese armed forces, as well as with teachers and students from higher education in the country.
