DILI, 13 june 2024 (TATOLI) – Fifty Timorese will be deported from the United Kingdom next month for entering the country illegally.
The statement was released the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito Freitas, after the end of a meeting with the President of the Republic José Ramos Horta, in Dili.
“We are facing a difficult situation in England, because on july 7th, the UK government is going to deport 500 foreigners, including 50 Timorese,” said Freitas.
He said that the British government had changed the migration law with the aim of controlling the illegal entry of foreigners.
The 50 Timorese will be deported because they used their Timorese passports to work in the UK, which is considered illegal.
