DILI, 20 june 2024 (TATOLI) – Representatives of the National Bank of Commerce of Timor-Leste (BNCTL) (BNCTL) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), on wednesday, signed a second phase services agreement for the upstream advisory services project, during a meeting at IFC’s headquarters in Dili.

Christina Ongoma, IFC Regional Manager said that the second phase agreement consolidates some of the results of the first engagement with BNCTL: “In phase two, we aim to have a transformative journey with the bank, focused on key areas,” she said.

“We agreed with BNCTL that these initiatives aim not only to strengthen the bank’s competitiveness but also to respond to economic diversification efforts and reinforce BNCTL’s role as a market leader,” he added.

The Chairman of BNCTL’s Executive Committee, António Vítor, said “BNCTL’s aspirations are clear: “We want to become the bank of choice for consumers. Strengthening management will improve our operations, allowing us to expand our reach to those most in need of accessible services,” he said.

“The signing of this document marks another milestone in our journey. It represents not only our ability to collaborate but also our commitment to delivering on expectations. Implementation is key, and we are determined to achieve the aspirations entrusted to us,” he stressed.
