DILI, 16 july 2024 (TATOLI) – Four Timorese athletes will participate in the Olympic Games Paris 2024 which will take place from 26 july to 11 August 2024.
The head of the Timorese delegation, Mateus da Cruz, after a meeting with the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, said that the four athletes will leave for France on 19 july.
“Our four athletes will compete in taekwondo, swimming, and athletics,” Cruz told reporters at the Presidential Palace in Dili.
President Horta encouraged Manuel Ataíde, Ana da Costa, Jolanio Guterres and Imelda Belo to compete professionally to promote Timor-Leste’s good image at the international games.
The Ministry of Youth, Sport, Art and Culture, in cooperation with the Office of the President of the Republic, had made around US$81,000 available for Timorese athlete’s participation in the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
