DILI, 01 august 2024 (TATOLI) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, accompanied by President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, held a bilateral meeting with the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, To Lam, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito Freitas said that President Lam asked Timor-Leste and Vietnam to create a political cooperation mechanism to discuss elements that are part of cooperation between the two countries.
“The creation of this cooperation mechanism will be led by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Timor-Leste and Vietnam, which also involves the relevant Ministry, to discuss the substance of cooperation in the areas of the economy, agriculture, human resources training, vocational training, diplomatic policy consultation and also education, higher education, and others,” said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the meeting was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Coordinator of Economic Affairs and Minister of Tourism and Environment, Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Forestry and Livestock, Marcos ds Cruz, Secretary of State for Social Communications, Expedito Dias Ximen Chief of Staff General of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Falur Rate Laek, Retired Lieutenant General, Lere Anan Timur, and others.
