DILI, 20 august 2024 (TATOLI) – The President of the Authority of the Special Administrative Region of Oe-Cusse Ambeno (RAEOA), and the Director of the Golden River Universe, Datuk Harry, accompanied by the Director of Grand Dragon Lotaria and CEO of Metrolink, José Januario Reis ‘Noki’ signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish TL’s first offshore gaming operation center in RAEOA.
With the signing of the MoU, Golden River Universe will take over a hotel in RAEOA and transform it into a centralized offshore gaming operation hub, capable of hosting up to 1,000 foreign employees. Golden River Universe will also continue to enhance the existing building and digital infrastructure to ensure top-notch facilities and services.
Harry said that: “The signing of today’s MOU with the state government stands as the greatest encouragement we have received, in supporting our efforts to establish the country’s first offshore gaming operation center. Next, we will finalize the last technical evaluation with the Inspector of Gaming from the federal government. We are looking forward to starting the offshore gaming operation by december this year.”
The Golden River Universe LDA are planning to invest more than U$100 million over the next 10 years to build one of Asia’s best offshore gaming operation centers. Oecusse will be the pioneer of this project. With its charming environment and excellent infrastructure, particularly the current airport, Golden River Universe LDA believe Oecusse is the perfect starting point to kick off this significant investment.
“This is a long-term investment spanning over 10 years, with taking over the hotel being just the first phase. The master plan for this investment includes another phase, which will require further discussions with the state government to acquire additional land for Phase 2 implementation,” Harry explained.
He said that in order to build Oecusse’s economy, foreign investment is needed: “RAEOA needs a great project that is able to attract great foreign investor. After our two years’ market studies, we are strongly believe that offshore gaming operation will be the best kick start project to build the city.”
“Oecusse, also known as the ‘Origin of East Timor,’ holds a special place in the nation’s history. Therefore, we believe that establishing the country’s first offshore gaming operation center in Oecusse will undoubtedly mark a significant milestone for the country,” Harry added.
Upon the signing of today’s MOU, Golden River Universe have indirectly been assigned another important role as ambassadors of Oecusse. Golden River Universe will actively promote Timor-Leste’s offshore gaming industry on the international stage, including at all major international gaming fairs, to attract foreign companies to set up their operations in Timor-Leste.
This investment is led by one of the most successful gaming companies in Timor-Leste, Redstar Global Timor LDA, also known as Grand Dragon Lotaria, and is backed by the nation’s leading ISP provider, Metrolink LDA.
