Seven Timorese students’ recipient scholarships dispatched to Indonesia

DILI, 03 september 2024 (TATOLI) – Seven Timorese students who had been awarded scholarships by the government through the Ministry of Education were sent on tuesday to continue their education at Muria Kudus University in Semarang, Indonesia, where they are enrolled in undergraduate programs in computer engineering and education.

“We dispatched seven Timorese scholarship recipients to Indonesia to pursue undergraduate programs in education and computer engineering, all of which are funded by the Indonesian government,” Secretary of State for General Secondary School and Vocational School, Domingos Lemos, said in Vila Verde, Dili.

Chairman of Commission G on Education, Youth, Culture, and Citizenship Armando Lopes urged the scholarship recipients to put in a lot of study time in order to finish their degrees swiftly and return to the country to make a positive impact.

On behalf of the scholarship beneficiaries, Martinho Xavier expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education for funding their further education in Indonesia.

‘I am very happy to have the opportunity to study in the computer engineering department. I will study hard to finalize my study according to the contract and will return to contribute to the development of Timor-Leste,’ he concluded.
