DILI, 16 september 2024 (TATOLI) – The Government of the People’s Republic of China, through its embassy in Timor-Leste, officially handed over two vehicles to the Government of Timor-Leste, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
These vehicles, delivered directly by the Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Wang Wenli, to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, at MFAC, Praia dos Coqueiros, Dili.
Minister Bendito Freitas said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation received the donation of two vehicles from the Chinese government to facilitate the ministry’s logistical service at important events.
“MoFAC received support from the Government of the People’s Republic of China, with these high-quality vehicles that can be used for important events and transport VIPs. This donation represents the seriousness of the Chinese Government’s desire to cooperate with Timor-Leste”, said Minister Bendito.
He emphasized that the relationship between China and Timor-Leste began during the struggle for independence and continues today, with China supporting various aspects to contribute to national development, including Timor-Leste’s membership in ASEAN.
In turn, the Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Wan Wenli, said that these vehicles were decided during the official visit of Minister Bendito Freitas to China, at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, Wang Yi.
“We hope that these luxury vehicles can be convenient for diplomatic courses and state visits in Timor-Leste. Timor-Leste is a young nation, but it already stands out very energetically in the diplomatic field, with many diplomatic activities carried out by President José Ramos-Horta, Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bendito,” said Ambassador Wan Wenli.
