“Since the first batch of medical team was dispatched in 2003, a total of 10 batches of medical team have been dispatched in the past 20 years, with a cumulative total of 123 person-times. Currently, it is the 10th batch of Chinese medical team, and the current medical team will have a term of 2 years until october 2025,” said in a statement.
The Chinese medical team mainly works in HNGV, including radiology, cardiology, urology, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, intensive care medicine, anesthesiology and acupuncture. In the past 20 years, we have received more than 250,000 outpatient and emergency patients, 42,000 hospitalized patients, and 18,000 surgical treatments.
In addition, Chinese doctors also provide medical services to Chinese diplomats, and Chinese citizens living in Timor-Leste.
The Chinese medical team has been honored by the Ministry of Health of Timor-Leste for many times and has been awarded the Order of Merit by the President of Timor-Leste.
The “Timor-Leste National Lithotripsy Center” project, built with China’s assistance, completed its handover and launching ceremony at the end of September 2022, and the center is now running smoothly, with well-functioning equipment, and has already treated more than 400 local patients in total.
