BOBONARO, 02 october 2024 (TATOLI) – The US Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Donna Ann Welton, and her delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Municipality of Bobonaro, where they met with the Bobonaro Municipal Authority.
During the meeting, Ambassador Welton and the Secretary of the Bobonaro Municipality Authority for the Municipal Integrated Development Plan, Semedo Laco discussed the current issues facing the municipality, including health, education, infrastructure and agriculture.
Ambassador Welton recognized the current issues and challenges facing the country, not only in the capital, but also in the municipalities and villages.
The US diplomat therefore stressed the importance of including Bobonaro Municipality in its Nutrition, Education, and Women Empowerment Program to address malnutrition and other problems facing education and rural women in the municipality.
Semedo Laco, on behalf of the Authority of the Bobonaro Municipality, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Ambassador Welton and her delegation for the visit.
“We are very grateful to the ambassador for her visit and for listening to our problems, and we appreciate her commitment to supporting us in the future,” said Laco in Bobonaro, today.
Laco hoped that with future support from the US, it will be possible to improve children’s nutrition and education and related areas in the municipality.
