DILI, 03 october 2024 (TATOLI) – A salt production site in Oe-Cusse is expected to produce hundreds of metric tons of iodized salt every year by 2025, according to a survey conducted by PT Garam, an Indonesian salt company.
PT Garam, in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MCI), will set up a salt manufacturing plant in Oe-Cusse to produce salt, which is crucial to reducing imported salt.
According to the survey, the site identified for salt production in Oe-Cusse has great potential for large-scale salt production.
PT Garam representative Eko Salaudin said that, according to the survey, the site could produce up to 700 tons of local iodized salt annually.
In addition to Oe-Cusse, the survey also identified two other potential sites for salt production, including one in Maubara and one in Ulmera, in the municipality of Liquiça.
The Director General of ICM, Martins Magno, said that the results of the survey will be presented to the Council of Ministers to discussed the investment budget for salt production in Oe-Cusse and Liquiça.
