DILI, 22 october 2024 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta commences a significant work visit to Portugal from 22 to 27 octobe, 2024. This visit encompasses a series of high-profile engagements focusing on peace, education, and international relations.
Horta will begin by meeting with high school students from Cascais municipality for an interactive Q&A session. The President will then participate in the opening of the Estoril Conference at Nova SBE Campus Carcavelos, centered on the theme “Time to ReThink.” A highlight of the visit is the President’s Talk on Peace, where he will address the crucial topic of leading nations towards lasting peace. This talk will feature the esteemed presence of the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, followed by an informal meeting between the two leaders.
President Horta schedule also includes a comprehensive tour of Nova SBE Campus and the Rethink Hub Exhibition. Engaging with the academic community, President Ramos-Horta will have interviews with master’s students from the “Students Club Politics” and meet with Portuguese media.
The Head of State will meet and greet session with the leadership of the Nova Public Policy Institute, reinforcing the President’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and knowledge exchange. The visit concludes with President Ramos-Horta receiving the Literary Award Guerra Junqueiro in Porto on 26th in the evening.
Horta emphasized the importance of this visit, stating: “This journey to Portugal represents more than just a diplomatic engagement.
