DILI, 08 november 2024 (TATOLI) – Timorese Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão congratulated President-elect Donald Trump on his election win.
“Dear President-elect Trump, On behalf of the Government and the people of Timor-Leste, I wish to extend my sincere congratulations on your comprehensive victory in the Presidential elections,” Gusmão said in a statement.
He said: “Your election victory reflects the support and trust the American people have placed in your leadership and your politics for your nation.’
The Head of Government said that the United States and Timor-Leste share a strong relationship of friendship and cooperation based on mutual respect, shared values, and an unwavering commitment to democratic principles. “Our nations have worked together in partnership, and this bond has contributed significantly to Timor-Leste’s development and international engagement.”
“I am confident that under your presidency, the bonds between our two nations will strengthen, fostering increased collaboration across areas of mutual interest. The government of TL looks forward to working closely with you and your administration to advance our shared goals and further deepen our bilateral relations,” added Gusmão. “Please accept my best wishes as you prepare to assume the office of the President of US and for the future success and prosperity of your nation under your leadership.”
