DILI, 22 november 2024 (TATOLI)— Timor-Leste, through the Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Employment (SEFOPE), and Australia, through its embassy, on friday launched the Palm Scheme Operation Manual for use in recruiting the Timorese workers to work in Australia.
Rogerio Araújo Mendonça, the Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Employment, said the launching of Palm Scheme Manual is very crucial as one of the handbooks to guide SEFOPE’s staff in recruiting Timorese youth to work in Australia.
“With the launching of Palm Scheme Operation Manuel, SEFOPE’s staff will use this handbook as one of the guidelines to recruit Timorese youth with transparency, fairness, and credibility,” Rogerio Araújo Mendonça told reporters at Timor-Plaza, Sui Room, on friday.
Secretary of State Mendonça, ask all staff in the National Department of Exterior (DNE) in SEFOPE to use this handbook when recruiting Timorese youth based on the Palm Scheme’s program in order for Timorese workers to adapt themselves when working in Australia.
At the same place, Deputy Ambassador of Australia to Timor-Leste Ed Wilkinson said this manual of Palm Scheme Operation is one of the symbols to promote the transparency, fair merit, and inclusive manner based on the procedure standard operational.
“On behalf of the Government of Australia, I thanked SEFOPE for its initiative to produce the Palm Scheme Operation Manual, hoping that this manual can be useful to ensure transparency and fair merit in an inclusive manner,” he concluded.
Recalled that, currently, more than 4,000 Timorese workers are involved in seasonal work programs, aged care programs, and palm scheme programs. From their working, bring the remittance to Timor-Leste in developing the growth of the economy of the country.
