According to Lopes, during the event, Bank Mandiri and Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) launched Mobile Banking, which allows customers to perform financial transactions remotely using mobile devices, such as a smartphone or tablet.
Mobile Banking offers various services, including checking balances, making transfers, paying bills and even applying for loans.
Lopes recalled that the BCTL, in partnership with the commercial banks operating in the country, had launched the account “Savings for the Future” in 2015, which allows parents to open accounts for their children for just one US dollar.
According to Lopes, more than 26,000 children and young people have opened their Account “Savings for the Future.”
The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta congratulated the initiators of the National Savings Day and Digital Camp by BCTL as a good step for future generations, including modernizing the banking system in Timor-Leste.
