DILI, 17 december 2024 (TATOLI) – The Embassy of Malaysia in Dili, on monday, launched a short film titled Tabah di Timor (Persevere in Timor) The Untold Story of Malaysians in Timor-Leste.
The 18 minutes film introduces members of the Malaysian diaspora residing in Timor-Leste as early as pre-independence. Through short interviews, 13 Malaysians shared their stories about what brought them to Timor-Leste, aside from their perspectives about the country.
The launch coincided with the Malaysian Diaspora and the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP) Alumni Fellowship & Christmas Gathering held at the Ocean View Restaurant this evening.
Directed by Mufizah Moslim (Ms), the film is a manifestation of the synergistic collaboration prevailing between the Embassy and the Malaysian diaspora in Timor-Leste. It will be made available on YouTube by close of the year.
Earlier, some 50 alumni members interacted with a group of resident Malaysian entrepreneurs led by Jeremiah Chan (Mr) in a networking session facilitated by the Embassy.
The event which culminated in a dinner attended also by some 60 Malaysians is the sixth festive gathering organised by the Embassy this year – in line with the Malaysian Government’s Madani (Civil) policy framework.
