DILI, 06 january 2025 (TATOLI) – The National Paralympic Committee of Timor-Leste (CPNTL) organized the National Paralympic Sports Festival (NPSF) to promote the skills of athletes with disabilities in various sports.
The National Paralympic Sports Festival takes place at the National Gymnasium in Dili, a multi-sport event that promotes physical activity and health for people with disabilities.
The festival encourages participation from professional and amateur athletes from all of Timor-Leste’s municipalities, including RAEOA.
Minister of Youth, Sports, Art, and Culture, Nelyo Isaac Sarmento said that the government of Timor-Leste is committed to supporting athletes with disabilities.
He said the event was a great opportunity to empower people with disabilities through inclusive participation.
Minister Sarmento stressed that, through the NPSF, new talented athletes with disabilities will be selected to represent Timor-Leste at international and regional games competitions.
He also said that the government would cooperate with the relevant bodies to continue supporting the promotion of physical activity and the health of people with disabilities.
The Ministry of Youth, Sports, Art and Culture (MoYSAC) provided US$36,000 to support the CPNTL in organizing the festival.
