DILI, 22 january 2025 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic Jose Ramos Horta, on tuesday, joined over 200 global leaders in the World Economic Forum’s Global Collaboration Village, focusing on this year’s critical theme: “Immersive Dialogue on the Economics of Extreme Heat.”
The World Economic Forum’s Global Collaboration Village was held in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, on january 21, 2025.
The virtual platform, powered by Microsoft Mesh technology, provided an innovative space for leaders to explore the economic implications of rising global temperatures.
Through advanced Extended Reality (XR) technologies and immersive data visualizations, President Horta and other participants examined the economic impact of extreme heat on various sectors, from agriculture to urban infrastructure.
“The Climate Tipping Points Hub offered virtual simulations demonstrating heat stress scenarios and their projected effects on global economies, with particular attention to vulnerable regions like Timor-Leste and other small island nations,” said in a statement.
The Global Collaboration Village, developed through the partnership of the World Economic Forum, Accenture, and Microsoft, enabled participants to engage in detailed discussions about adaptation strategies, economic resilience, and innovative solutions to address the growing threat of extreme heat to global economies. This immersive approach marked a significant advancement in how world leaders collaborate to address climate-related economic challenges.
