DILI, 10 February 2025 (TATOLI) – Today, the National Communications Authority (NCA), in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), organized a seminar on Cybersecurity Landscape Trends.
The seminar aims to elaborate on the legal aspects and national perspectives of the National Cyber Crime Law, as well as raise awareness about cybersecurity among senior management and emphasize the importance of developing internal human resources in the cybersecurity field.
ANC’s Chairman, Flávio Cardoso Neves said that the seminar provides IT engineers with the opportunity to share insights on personal information security practices in Japan and discuss global cybersecurity trends as well as the evolving role of IT engineers.
Neves stressed that the seminar is part of the Government’s commitment to boosting the country’s digital and technological development, which is crucial for its economic and sustainable growth.
At the same event, JICA’s Chief Representative in Timor-Leste, ITO Mimpei, also highlighted the importance of the seminar in addressing the pressing issues of cyber-attacks and information breaches by raising awareness among senior management and emphasizing the importance of internal human resource development in the cybersecurity field, an area where the ANC plays an important role.
JICA supported this initiative through its training scheme, “which has brought together esteemed experts from Indonesia and Japan to share their insights on the “Trend of Cybersecurity Landscape and Roles of IT Engineers”.
“We are happy to continue this support by dispatching experts to Timor-Leste, enabling many technical officers to enhance their skills and knowledge,” he said.
JICA has been a longstanding partner of ANC in providing capacity development opportunities to ANC technical officers in Japan and other ASEAN countries, such as Malaysia and Singapore.
