ASEAN Secretary General and Vice Minister Rangel discuss implementation of Roadmap for TL’s accession to ASEAN
DILI, 18 February 2025 (TATOLI) – Kao Kim Hourn, the Secretary-General of ASEAN, today received Milena Rangel, Vice Minister for ASEAN Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste (MoFAC), at the ASEAN Headquarters/ ASEAN Secretariat.
During the meeting, they discussed, among others, the implementation of the Roadmap for Timor-Leste’s Full Membership in ASEAN.
“Secretary-General Kao acknowledged Timor-Leste’s ongoing progress towards meeting the Roadmap’s criteria and welcomed continued capacity-building for Timor-Leste by ASEAN and its external partners,” said in a statement.
On the same day, Vice Minister Rangel also met with the Dato’ Astanah Abdul Aziz, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for the ASEAN Political-Security Community to advance Timor-Leste’s progress towards full ASEAN membership.
Their discussions focused on the implementation of the Roadmap for Timor-Leste’s Full Membership in ASEAN, Timor-Leste’s participation in ASEAN meetings and activities, and the ASEAN Secretariat’s support for the implementation of the Roadmap.
