DILI, 19 February 2025 (TATOLI) – Today, 12 new non-resident ambassadors presented their letters of credence to the President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta. The credential ceremony was held at the President Nicolau Lobato Palace, in Dili.
The ceremony marked the formal commencement of the Ambassadors’ diplomatic missions to Timor-Leste and underscores the nation’s growing international relations.
The non-resident ambassadors are the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Armin Limo; the Ambassador of Guatemala, Maynor Jacobo Cuyún Salguero; the Ambassador of Venezuela, Jessica Maria Lópe Piña; the Ambassador of Turkey, Talip Küçükcan; the Ambassador of Russia, Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov; the Ambassador of Netherlands, Marc Gerritsen; the Ambassador of Slovakia, Tomas Ferko; the Ambassador of Italia, Roberto Colamine; the Ambassador of Israel, Eliyahu Vered Hazan; the Ambassador of Bulgaria, Tanya Dimitrova Dimitrova; the Ambassador of Namibia, Herman Pule Diamonds; and the Ambassador of Uruguay, Dianela Joselina Pi Cedras.
Horta welcomed the newly accredited Ambassadors to Timor-Leste and expressed his commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with each of their respective countries.
“Today’s ceremony represents a significant milestone in Timor-Leste’s diplomatic journey,” said Horta, “By expanding our diplomatic partnerships across continents, we are creating new opportunities for cooperation. As a young democracy, we value these international relationships that help strengthen our position in the global community while advancing our shared commitment to peace and prosperity.”
Horta emphasized the importance of international cooperation in addressing global challenges and advancing shared goals of peace, security, and sustainable development.
The Ambassadors conveyed greetings and best wishes from their Heads of State and affirmed their dedication to enhancing diplomatic ties with Timor-Leste.
This credential ceremony reflects Timor-Leste’s continuing efforts to expand its diplomatic footprint and engage with the international community across diverse regions.
