DILI, 05 March 2025 (TATOLI) – Pope Francis’ clinical condition remains ‘stable,’ but he is still receiving treatment for double pneumonia at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, the Vatican said.

“Today the Holy Father’s clinical conditions have remained stable. He did not have any episodes of respiratory insufficiency or bronchospasm,” the Holy See Press Office said in a statement.

The Vatican said on Tuesday that the head of the Catholic Church remained apyretic, always alert, cooperative with therapies, and oriented, said the Vatican. “This morning he passed to high-flow oxygen therapy and carried out respiratory physiotherapy. The prognosis remains reserved.”

“Pope Francis’ overall clinical condition remains stable, including heart, kidney, and blood values,” the Vatican News reported.

Pope Francis, 88, has been battling double pneumonia since Tuesday (18/02). He was admitted to Rome’s Agostino Gemelli Hospital after being diagnosed with bronchitis on Friday (14/02).

Pope Francis visited Timor-Leste in September 2024, becoming the first pope to visit the country since John Paul II in 1989.

The visit was a significant moment for the country, which gained independence from Indonesia in 2002.

The peak of Pope Francis’s historic visit to Timor-Leste was the celebration of Holy Mass in Tasi Tolu, attended by an estimated 600,000 faithful—almost half of the Timorese population.
