DILI, 10 Mach 2025 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Forestry (MALFF) and JICA, organized the 3rd Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting for the Community Based Landscape Management (CBLM) project. The meeting aims to share the progress and achievements of the project’s implementation during the fiscal year 2024, discuss plans for fiscal year 2025, and address the issues and challenges to enhance the project outcomes.
The Minister of Agriculture, Marcos da Cruz, emphasized the importance of the project, highlighting its significant positive impact, as forests play a key role in all sectors.
He stressed that strong cooperation and coordination among stakeholders are essential for ensuring the project success, making it more effective and delivering good results.
The Chief Representative of JICA, Fukumori Daisuke, noted that the CBLM project plays a crucial role in mitigation issues like landslides, climate change and food insecurity.
“This is achieved through the establishment of village regulations, reforestation and agroforestry initiatives,” Daisuke said in a statement.
He also shared JICA’s plan to expand these efforts through implementing micro programs, which include upland farming, tree planting and coffee rehabilitations activities aimed at protecting forests and improving livelihoods.
Daisuke highlighted the importance of close collaboration between MALFF and JICA, and encouraged MALFF staff to engage actively, learn from the project team, and develop skills to ensure the continued success.
During the meeting, JICA technical experts and MALFF staff presented updates on the implementation of the CBLM project for 2024 and 2025. The session includes discussions of ideas and challenges to improve implementation. The CBLM project remains a vital initiative focused on sustainable natural resource management.
