DILI, 13 March 2025 (TATOLI) – Scott Perrin, representing the Spanish company Acciona, met with President Ramos Horta to discuss a potential carbon storage facility in the Timor Sea.
“Acciona, a Madrid-based firm well-established in Europe and the Northern Hemisphere, presented its proposal aimed at creating jobs and generating revenue for the Southeast Asian nation,” said in a statement.
During the meeting, Perrin outlined Acciona’s interest in developing the carbon storage project, though specific details remain to be finalized.
Further discussions between Acciona and the Timorese government are expected to take place within the next week, with Perrin expressing confidence about the prospects for collaboration.
President Horta warmly welcomed the initiative, expressing strong support for investments that could significantly advance Timor-Leste’s development.
Horta emphasized that such projects represent exactly the kind of partnership needed to build sustainable economic growth while participating in global climate solutions.
