DILI, 20 March 2025 (TATOLI) – Today, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Forestry (MoALFF) and Menzies School of Health Research celebrated laying of the foundation stone of Timor-Leste’s Bacteriology Laboratory in Matadouro, Dili.
The future Timor-Leste Bacteriology Lab will be built to help veterinarians in the country identify the bacteria that cause infections in animals.
Secretary of State for Fisheries, Domingos da Conceição dos Santos said that initiative aims to help the National Veterinary Directorate test samples of animals infected with viruses in order to reduce the transmission of diseases in animals on a large scale.
Meanwhile, the Menzies’ Country Manager, Antonio Goncalves, emphasized the need to work in partnership with MAPPF and the Ministry of Health to prevent brucellosis, an infectious disease caused by bacteria of the genus Brucella.
