DILI, 28 March 2025 (TATOLI) –From March 25 to 28, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Goodwill Ambassador and the Wiggles, an Australian children’s music group, visited the schools of Filial Catheu, Likisa, Bedois Community Center in Becora, Dili, Community Preschool Titibuti in Ermera, and the Women Empowerment Organization in Railako to motivate and encourage children on how to study well.
Patrizia DiGiovanni, the UNICEF representative in Timor-Leste, said they were visiting Timor-Leste as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors and also as the Wiggles, an Australian children’s music group, to engage with the children in Timor-Leste.
“They visited Timor-Leste from March 25 to 28. During their time in Timor-Leste, they visited the schools of Filial Catheu in the Municipality of Likisa, the Bedois Community Center in Becora, Dili, Community Preschool Titibuti in the Municipality of Ermera, and the Women Empowerment Organization in Railako, Ermera, to entertain, motivate, and encourage the children to continue their studies,” Patrizia DiGiovanni told reporters at UN House, Obrigado Barak, Kai-Koli, Dili, on Friday.
UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Anthony Tshay Metesia, the team leader of the Wiggles, said his group was very proud to visit Timor-Leste to entertain and engage with Timorese children.
“We are very proud to visit Timor-Leste. We observe that children here are very enthusiastic about learning. For example, when we asked them to wash their hands, they did so easily,” he said.
Meanwhile, in Timor-Leste, the Wiggle group, consisting of team leader Anthony Tshay Metesia as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, and members Field Hawkins, Caterina Mete, and Lachlan Gillespie, was present to entertain the children of Timor-Leste through songs they created to motivate and encourage the children to continue their enthusiasm for learning and pursue their dreams in the future.
