DILI, 31 March 2025 (TATOLI) – Timorese’ national leader, José Ramos Horta, currently the President of the Republic, congratulated all Muslim compatriots in Timor-Leste and around the world today on Eid Al-Fitr 2025.
“On behalf of the people of Timor-Leste, I extend my warmest wishes to you all on this joyous occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan,” Horta said.
Eid Al-Fitr is a time of profound spiritual significance—a celebration of devotion, perseverance, and triumph after a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection. It reminds us of the values that unite us as Timorese: compassion, solidarity, and respect for one another’s faith and traditions.
“Our nation draws strength from its diversity. The harmony between our Muslim community and citizens of other faiths exemplifies the inclusive spirit that has guided Timor-Leste since independence. In this spirit, I call upon all Timorese, regardless of religious background, to join in celebrating the essence of Eid Al-Fitr—forgiveness, reconciliation, and renewed bonds of friendship and family,” he added.
Chief of state appeals, Let us continue building a Timor-Leste where every citizen can practice their faith freely while contributing to our shared national progress.
As you mark this blessed occasion with special prayers, gatherings, and festivities, I hope it brings joy, peace, and blessings to you and your loved ones.
The strength of our nation lies in celebrating our differences together. “May the spirit of Eid Al-Fitr inspire us to build a more inclusive and harmonious Timor-Leste. May peace, prosperity, and harmony continue to flourish in our beloved nation,” he emphasized.
