DILI, 10 April 2025 (TATOLI) – Next week, nine researchers will begin conducting scientific research in the fields of natural sciences, science and technology, and social sciences under the Scientific Research Project.
To this end, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Culture, José Honório, and the President of the Executive Board of the National Institute of Sciences and Technology (INCT), José Cornélio Guterres, signed a contract with the researchers from various higher education institutions.
The researchers will gather and analyze the data over the coming months and must present the preliminary results of their research in September,” said Guterres, in Balide, Dili.
Minister Honório said that the results of the scientific research would help the government in its decision-making.
“I believe that the researchers will collect data rigorously, and there is a possibility that some results of the research will be presented to the Council of Ministers,” said Honório.
INCT has allocated US$35,000 to support scientific research projects in 2025. The research will also include an investigation of the borax content in meatballs (bakso), the nutrition of students, and the socioeconomic aspects of local producers.
Borax is a toxic substance that can be harmful to human health if ingested. It’s not safe to consume, and it can cause serious health problems, including kidney failure and death.
