DILI, 12 May 2025 (TATOLI) – The flag of Timor-Leste, on Sunday, 11 May 2025, flew high at the prestigious ASEAN SEAmposium held at Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech) — a major regional platform spotlighting youth leadership and innovation.
Under the theme “Youth in Action: Transforming Regional Challenges into Opportunities”, the event gathered bright minds and changemakers from across Southeast Asia to explore the topic: “Harnessing Technology for ASEAN’s Economic Integration and Sustainable Development.”
Representing Timor-Leste with pride and purpose was Marissa Henrique Moreira Pereira, a passionate student of Political Science and International Studies at Yonsei University. As one of the official speakers, she delivered a compelling speech on how technology can be a game-changer for regional cooperation and sustainable growth. Her voice echoed the hopes and determination of Timorese youth on the international stage.
The symposium was graced by high-level diplomatic presence, including Antonio de Sá Benevides, Ambassador of Timor-Leste to South Korea, alongside the Ambassadors of Malaysia and the Philippines, as well as representatives from all ASEAN embassies in Korea. Their presence underscored strong diplomatic commitment to empowering ASEAN youth.
Joining the celebration were 6 proud members of the Timor-Leste Student Association in Korea (AETL-K), standing in solidarity and support for their fellow student and the future of the region.
Organized by the Malaysian Student Association in Korea (PPMK), in collaboration with the ASEAN-Korea Centre and the Embassy of Malaysia, the SEAmposium created a powerful space for youth-driven dialogue, collaboration, and regional vision.
Timor-Leste’s presence at the SEAmposium 2025 is a powerful reminder: “Our youth are not just the future—they are the driving force of today’s regional progress. Together, we rise. Together, we lead.
