Ambassador Kimura Inaugurates New Japan-Funded School Building in Manufahi

DILI, 30 June 2025 (TATOLI) – Japan’s Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Tetsuya Kimura, inaugurated a newly constructed school building at the Senior High School of Saint Francis of Assisi in Manufahi Municipality on Friday, 27 June 2025.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by local government officials, education authorities, teachers, and students.

The Government of Japan provided USD 72,992 to Saint Francis of Assisi Foundation, a local NGO, to implement this project.

The new school building with t three classrooms, two teacher’s rooms, and three toilets was constructed, benefiting 719 students and 22 teachers at the Senior High School.

“We hope this school building will be remembered for a long time as a symbol of friendship between Japan and Timor-Leste,” Ambassador Kimura said in a statement.
