Horta Calls on Civil Servants to Continue Serving the Country with Integrity, Professionalism, and Dedication

DILI, 15 July 2025 (TATOLI) — On the occasion of the 11th National Civil Service Day, President José Ramos-Horta extended his heartfelt gratitude to Timor-Leste’s civil servants for their steadfast dedication to the nation since independence, recognizing them as the backbone of government institutions and essential providers of vital public services.

In his message, Horta highlighted the crucial role civil servants play in advancing national development and urged them to reflect on future challenges while renewing their commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellence in public service.

“Your daily efforts are vital in delivering essential services to our people and driving our nation’s progress,” said Horta in his message.

He called upon civil servants to continue their work with integrity, professionalism, and dedication, emphasizing that their efforts directly influence the lives of citizens and shape the country’s future.

The President also stressed the importance of innovation, adaptability, and compassion in meeting the evolving needs of the Timorese people, encouraging public servants to uphold these values as they serve the nation.

“As we celebrate this milestone, let us also reflect on the challenges ahead and renew our pledge to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and excellence in public service. Together, we must continue to innovate, adapt, and work with compassion to meet the evolving needs of our people,” he said.

Ramos-Horta wished all civil servants a happy Public Civil Servant Day and expressed hope that their dedication would continue to inspire and uplift Timor-Leste as it progresses.
