DILI, 04 August 2025 (TATOLI) – Australia’s Minister for International Development, Anne Aly, will visit Timor-Leste this week on her first official trip to Southeast Asia since being appointed following the federal elections in May.
The Australian Embassy in Dili said the visit aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries, with a focus on Australia’s support for Timor-Leste’s development priorities.
The Australian Embassy said the country’s development programs in Southeast Asia aim to support shared interests in a secure, stable, and prosperous region, with a focus on both the challenges and opportunities in one of the world’s most dynamic areas.
During the visit, Minister Aly is expected to meet with Timorese government leaders and take part in the Timor-Leste–Australia Economic and Business Conference.
She will be joined by Australia’s Special Envoy for Southeast Asia, Nicholas Moore, and Business Envoy to Timor-Leste, Shane Walden.
The conference aims to boost economic cooperation and reaffirm Australia’s commitment to supporting Timor-Leste’s efforts to grow and diversify its economy.
