DILI, 27 August 2025 (TATOLI) – The Council of Ministers has approved a draft government resolution to establish a Steering Committee tasked with developing a National Roadmap for Housing Market Development.
The proposal was jointly presented by Vice Prime Minister, Minister Coordinator for Social Affairs, and Minister for Rural Development and Community Housing, Mariano Assanami Sabino, along with the Minister for Planning and Strategic Investment, Gastão de Sousa.
According to a government source, the resolution calls for the formation of a Steering Committee composed of several members of the Executive, supported by a Technical Working Group. Their mission will be to prepare, review, and finalize the roadmap.
“This document will outline the strategies and mechanisms for implementing, monitoring, and evaluating policies aimed at improving living conditions across the country,” stated a government release accessed by TATOLI on Wednesday.
The measure also seeks to address the growing demand for housing and the need to ensure decent and adequate living conditions for all citizens, as guaranteed by the Constitution and the Government Program.
“The goal is to create a coordinated and sustainable framework for housing market development, involving public institutions, the private sector, and development partners, with the aim of delivering more effective and accessible solutions for the population,” the statement added.
