DILI, 18 September 2025 (TATOLI) – On September 16, together with the representative of the President of the Ermera Municipal Authority and other relevant officials, KIMURA Tetsuya, Ambassador of Japan to Timor-Leste, attended the inauguration ceremony of the new health post in Ermera Municipality.

The ceremony was hosted by the Millennial Youth Association (MYA), the local NGO that implemented the project, with participation from its staff and community members.

Ambassador Kimura stated, “Health is the foundation of a nation’s progress. By investing in the well-being of communities—especially women, children, and families—we invest in the future of Timor-Leste. Japan remains committed to supporting grassroots initiatives that promote human security and long-term well-being.”

For this project, the Government of Japan provided USD 143,022 through its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme. The new health post in Humboe Village is expected to provide care, comfort, and a safe environment for community members in need of medical assistance.

Since the launch of the first project in 2000, 146 projects have been implemented under the GGP scheme across all 12 municipalities and RAEOA of Timor-Leste. These projects have primarily supported improvements to community infrastructure, including the construction and rehabilitation of school facilities, public clinics, and water supply systems, addressing a wide range of basic human needs at the grassroots level.
