DILI, 03 October 2025 (TATOLI) – The 2025 Dili International Marathon organizing committee is proud to announce Timor Plaza as an official Silver Level Sponsor of the event. The partnership was formalized today with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace.
The MoU was signed by the Chief of Staff of the Presidency of the Republic, Jesuína Maria Ferreira Gomes, and the Managing Director of Timor Plaza, Tony Jape. The sponsorship, valued at $14,737.50, will provide crucial in-kind support, including hospitality for technical officials, promotional activities, and door prizes for the event’s fun run.

The 2025 Dili International Marathon with a themed “Run for Palestine,” under the patronage of President and Nobel Peace Laureate, Jose Ramos-Horta, is organized in collaboration with the IX Constitutional Government, the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, and the Athletics Federation of Timor-Leste. The event takes place on October 11, 2025, will feature multiple race categories including the full marathon (42.195km), half marathon (21.098km), para-athletics (10km), and a 3km fun run suitable for families and communities. All races will start and finish at the prestigious Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace, symbolizing national unity and democratic values.

Established in 2010 by President and Nobel Peace Laureate, Jose Ramos-Horta, the Dili International Marathon aims to promote health, wellness, and tourism. It brings together local and international participants in a celebration of sport and resilience. The 2025 edition, themed “Run for Palestine,” advocates for peaceful resolutions while celebrating Timor-Leste’s ASEAN membership. The event s expected to attract hundreds of participants, providing a significant boost to local tourism. Registration closes on October 8, 2025.
